BUKHARA REGIONAL THEATER OF MUSIC DRAMA AND COMEDY
The Bukhara Regional Uzbek Theater of Musical Drama and Comedy emerged in 1922 from participants in amateur art activities. In 1927, a group of theater actors entered a theater studio in the city of Moscow. The graduates of this studio formed the basis of the currently existing theater, the official opening of which took place on November 7, 1930 with the play "Mutiny".
In 1932, the theater made a large tour of the following cities: Moscow, Leningrad, Chelyabinsk, Sverdlovsk, Chita, Sevastopol, Simferopol, Kerch, Evpatoria, Feodosia, Bakhchisarai.
The theater's repertoire includes such works of world drama as: "The Inspector General", "The Marriage" by Gogol, "Hamlet" by Shakespeare, "Happy Beggars" by K. Gozzi. In 1939, the collective was reorganized into a music and drama theater.
Currently, the theater has a very rich and varied repertoire.
The attention of tourists can be attracted by such folklore and ethnographic performances as: "The Crown Prince's Coronation", "The Return of Nasreddin", wedding ceremonies such as: "Gavorabandon" (Celebration of the birth of a child), "Chimilik" (Rites dedicated to the bride and groom).
According to the decision of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, support was provided to the theater: in 2010, a new modern building was built for the theater of the birth of a child), "Chimilik" (Rites dedicated to the bride and groom).
